Jean-Philippe Delage

Vancouver based photographer and architect Jean-Philippe has document the work of talented architects, designers and builders in the region and abroad for over 7 years.  The photographs of your project have been published in several design publications both national and international and have helped some of your projects getting local, national and intentional recognition.

Photography sparked Jean-Philippe’s curiosity at a very young age. While everyone in the family was using Polaroid cameras, he noticed how his Aunt Sylvie would carefully take her time setting up a photograph using her Nikon EM SLR. There was no instant gratification from the Nikon, but when the photographs did arrive, the benefits of his aunt's slower compositions were obvious to all.

Sometime later Jean-Philippe bought a Nikon EM. Following several years of expensive experimentation he began photography courses at school, where he had access to a brand-new photo lab and Pentax K1000 cameras. His subjects were varied - people, landscape, art and architecture.  He later launched Latreille Delage Photography with his friend Andrew Latreille (www.andrewlatreille.com).  They worked together for 4 years, and will again in the years to come.

All Jean-Philippe's photographs exhibit a crispness and cleanliness thanks to his attention to angles, perspective and careful composition. He still enjoys capturing a variety of subjects, yet architecture and its spatial challenges bring out his best work.

Jean-Philippe holds a degree in Architecture from Laval University in Quebec City.   He works full time as an Architect and the rest of his time he photographs Architecture.  He is a registered architect in British Columbia and Quebec.
